We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence is therefore not an act but a habit. --- Aristotle

I grew up in Lancaster county, graduated from a small school in the SE part of the county.  I attended Temple University in NE Philly, and recieived a BA in Psychology.

Later I attended Alvernia College and obtained by Physical Therapist Assistant AS and have been working hard to learn as much as I can about the human body and its problems for the past 14+ years.  I began my professional career in a large (500+bed) hospital and learned a tremendous amount about the body and its ability to break it's self down and/or repair itself.

I ended up in a teaching position about 8 years later teaching Physical Therapist Assistant students at a local college.  One does not realize how much he/she does not know about a subject until they need to teach it to someone.  While there I taught Kinesiology (the study of movement), Therapeutic Exercise, PTA procedures, and a Wound course that I wrote.  I thought I had a pretty good skill set heading into the teaching job but after.... well lets just say I learned almost as much as I taught about myself, the profession of  PT and others.

I now work in an Outpatient clinic where I'm able to utilize my skills to help heal the body, strengthen, and increase a patient's function.  I love it!  Additionally,  The organization I work for is fully supportive of strength and conditioning training for reduction of injuries, sport performance, and generalized fitness.

Having obtained my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), I have the opportunity to fulfill my philosophy and improve the quality of life and quality of sport performance.

I have my Golf Conditioning Specialist Certification, level 1 Piliates mat Certification, 14 years of experience in Physical Therapy, and education background.

My passion and calling is life is to help others...If I can improve your sport performance or fitness whether it is strength, power, speed, agilty or quickness... I'll give as much to you as you can give me!

PHILOSOPHY

Every person has an ‘athlete” inside them!!  The trick is accessing that athlete and developing the habits to maximize that athlete.  To that end each athlete I work with must bring their intensity, focus and commitment to each workout.

Each person has heard of an athlete who “didn’t make it”.  Not everyone is professional grade however; with your help we can reach your genetic ceiling and maybe even realize it was higher than even you thought!

Everyone who calls themselves an “athlete” has worked out at one time or another, and even some of you know how to perform exercises.   To you I say good!  Now let’s take those skills and apply them to your sport, goals, or weaknesses.  To do so in a logical fashion; armed with the knowledge of exercise density, creativity, and exercise science will make your workouts more effective.

Any strength and conditioning coach can make you sore, but can they make you better?   Muscle soreness is to be expected to a certain degree however, lingering issues need to be addressed prior to the next workout or that workout will lead to overuse injuries and loss of effective work.  My 14 years of experience in the Physical Therapy Profession assist me in recognizing injuries before they develop into issues that eliminate training/competition.

I believe in the power of the body to make the body stronger.  I mean that traditional methods of strength and conditioning will be utilized i.e. weight bars, plates, dumbbells etc.   However, bodyweight coupled with sport specific movements will be utilized to tax the sports system need for your sport; along with bands, physio-balls, medicine balls and weighted vests.

Depending upon your goals/sport your program will be tailored to your needs i.e. not just a generic program that may make you stronger but not really help you with your goals/sport.   EX: one would not train a football lineman with the same program you would a cyclist.

All athletes will perform core strengthing, muscle synergist followed by muscle prime movers in a repetition, sets, weights and rest periods based on the need to develop, strength, power, or endurance.

ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT

Making you stronger than your lifestyle”

 Philosophy of Speed

Speed agility and quickness is an integral part of sport.  Running faster coupled with the ability to change direction, decelerate and stop are key ingredients to excelling in sport. Each person has heard of an athlete who “didn’t make it”.  Not everyone is professional grade however; with your help we can reach your genetic ceiling and maybe even realize it was higher than you thought!

Everyone who calls themselves an “athlete” has worked out at one time or another, and even some of you know how to perform exercises.

Speed agility and quickness training utilizing sport specific drills, both endurance and speed based, can improve footwork, coordination, and reduce the risk of injury.

I am currently employed by Drayer Physical Therapy Institute and we see many young athletes with injuries because of muscle imbalances, strength deficits and poor mechanics.

My 14 years of experience in the Physical Therapy Profession assist me in recognizing injuries before they develop into issues that eliminate training/competition; this coupled with my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist distinction qualifies me to provide you and/or your team with sport specific speed work.

Let’s get faster together!!
